HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES

Basketball Star and Detroit Native Launches 4th Annual Scholarship Program to
Help the Class of 2006 Continue Their Education at the College Level

$50,000 in Funds Will be Distributed to Five Local Seniors

Detroit – The Jalen Rose Foundation announced today that NBA star Jalen Rose will award five Detroit high
school seniors with college scholarships to help them achieve their college dreams.  The scholarships,
totaling $50,000, will be awarded to the high school seniors beginning their college education in the fall of
2006.  Rose, who attended Detroit Southwestern High School, will award a minimum of one scholarship to
his alma mater.

“Everyone deserves the opportunity to earn a college degree, and through this program, more Detroit
students will achieve that goal,” said Rose.  “There is no question in my mind that education is the key to a
successful future and I want to help the Detroit community make college a priority for its kids.  Someday, I
hope to receive a scholarship application from every senior in Detroit because this great city will only get
better as more and more kids grow up and impact the community in positive ways.”

A committee consisting of Rose and representatives of his Foundation will select scholarship recipients.
Decisions will be made based on academic achievement and goals, extracurricular/community activities
and financial need.  The deadline for Detroit seniors to apply is April 21, 2006 and recipients will be
announced in May.  Students can check with their school to receive an application, visit www.

Rose added, “The goal of the program is not only to get kids to college, but to get them to earn a degree.  I
currently have sixteen scholarship recipients in school including four at my alma mater, University of
Michigan. My Foundation is in constant communication with the kids and their families to make sure that
they are holding up their end of our partnership over the four years. ”
